2 Chainz Arrested for Possession

Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested for possession of marijuana and Promethazine, an antipsychotic drug used to make "sizzurp" or "purple drank" at the Los Angeles International Airport on June 11. After the drugs were found in his suitcase, he was escorted off the plane. Maryland State Police detained 2 Chainz in February, making this his second drug offense this year.

Drug possession charges are taken seriously in California. Even marijuana, although not treated as harshly as other drugs, can lead to serious consequences. If you are caught with more than one ounce of marijuana, you may be charged with a misdemeanor under California law. A misdemeanor is a crime that is punished less severely than a felony, but can still be included on your permanent record.

If you have been charged with the possession of marijuana, you may still be able to fight or reduce the penalties. A skilled Los Angeles criminal defense attorney can help you keep your record clean through an informal diversion. An informal diversion allows you to perform community service or pay fines in exchange for keeping your record clean. Formal diversions can also allow you to complete rehabilitation and avoid harsher punishment.
