What is Medical Marijuana

What is Medical Marijuana?

In California, SB 420 recognizes all patients' rights listed in Proposition 215 and codified in Health and Safety Code section 11362.71. The California laws do not trump Federal Law, where medical marijuana is still illegal. However, in California, if you have either a lawful physician's recommendation or a County issued card, you may possess and use marijuana. There is a voluntary ID program, however, it is not a requirement for full protection as per Health and Safety Code section 1162.71 (f). This program allows for a web-based system enabling law enforcement to verify one's status for lawful possession, growing, transporting and using medical marijuana.
