California Restraining Orders

Our firm also focuses on restraining orders, and restraining orders are very unique because they are a combination of family law and criminal law. They are heard before a family law judge and not a criminal judge. Family law attorneys attempt to jump into the area of restraining orders, and criminal defense attorneys attempt to moonlight in this areas.

I have extensive training and expertise with restraining orders. In fact, our firm has handled more restraining orders than any other lawyer in Southern California.

I'm very proud to say that I've represented parties on both sides of the fence. People that are injured or threatened or harassed by their neighbor or their spouse or their former girlfriend or boyfriend.

I also defend against restraining orders that are meritless that are filed simply to harass people, and have no factual basis whatsoever. It's a difficult process, and it's a two step process. The judge first orders a temporary restraining order, which is done more on an emergency basis. Then two to three weeks later has a permanent hearing to decide whether or not this restraining order should be issued, and if it is, for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years.

I personally handle matters in terms of defending the restraining orders if there is no merit to them, and also procuring restraining orders for someone who is in dire need of protection.
