When choosing or looking for a criminal defense attorney, or when determining how to hire a criminal defense attorney, I think that the most important thing to do is actually physically look for that attorney.

What I mean by that, is make sure that is going to be your attorney. There the ones who meet with you when you go to the office for the first time. Not their case manager, not their marketing director, but that attorney. Make sure that that attorney is a criminal defense attorney.

I have a great deal of passion in Criminal Defense. I teach the law at an undergrad level and I teach the law at a Law School level, but that law I teach is criminal law. There aren't any classes that I teach that aren't centered and focused around criminal law. Much like my practice, that's what I do, that's what I enjoy. I am a criminal defense litigator.

I like to try criminal defense cases and I think that is one of the most important things to do when you are looking for that attorney is to say "Are you a trial lawyer?" and "Are you a criminal defense trial lawyer?" Because without those answers, you could be getting someone who moonlights in the criminal defense field and won't truly and accurately represent your needs.
